About us

Business Affair is an online business news channel, featuring all things business and exclusive in South Africa. Our bureau is based in Cape Town and our team includes some of the county's finest talent. 

Business Affair started in Mauritius in 2017, as the dream of an ambitious female reporter with a camera and a laptop, eager to cover news from the rapidly growing East-Indian island.


In search of a greater market and more opportunities, Business Affair relocated to Cape Town. Today we have a growing team, covering not only business news, but also exclusive lifestyle content.

Ashlea Evans

TV Reporter and Media Trainer

Ashlea is an international TV reporter and show host. She has reported from The World Economic Forum, The Mining Indaba, The World Bank and the JSE; and has interviewed some of the world’s most prominent business professionals and politicians.

Ashlea was the Cape Town reporter for CNBC Africa and hosted the show, CNBC’s Eye on Western Cape. She is a qualified media trainer and has a Masters degree in Media and Broadcasting from Lynn University in the USA. After graduating Summa Cum Laude, Ashlea went on to work at Al Jazeera and ABC News in the USA, as well as working in politics on Capitol Hill.

Wandile Tonqa

Camera Operator

Wandile is a self-taught photographer and videographer. His natural eye for production and skilled camera techniques landed him a career in a live television set up at CNBC Africa, as well as a technical assistant at UCT TV. Wandile has covered events such as the World Economic Forum, Fees Must Fall, Soccer World SA, the Mining Indaba and the Cape Town Jazz Festival.


He has a multitude of experience in different media set ups doing sound, vision mixing, operating studio & ENG cameras. Wandile's passion is behind the camera, and this is evident in his creative video techniques and outstanding footage.
